Zoe Saldaña on Gamora’s Ending in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

Actress Zoe Saldaña has shared her thoughts on Gamora’s ending in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

The new Marvel Cinematic Universe movie was written and directed by James Gunn. “Still reeling from the loss of Gamora, Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) must rally his team to defend the universe and protect one of their own,” reads the synopsis for the MCU movie. “If the mission is not completely successful, it could possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them.”

Saldaña shared her thoughts on the decision not to have Gamora and Star-Lord have a romantic storyline. “It was a bittersweet decision, obviously. I wanted to know that in the final chapter, Gamora stays on and finds a way to become a Guardian again. But this felt like the right way to end things for her because of what she had been through. At the end of the day, any multiverse that she would’ve come from, she was still going to have the same experience with Thanos, and she was still gonna have the same guilt and the same trauma. So she finally found solace with the Ravagers, and she felt more open than she had ever been.”

“I think the whole thing with Peter bothered her because even though she had no recollection of who he was, she had a sense that it must have been special. And I appreciated that takeaway because it kind of gave us the hope that if the Guardians seek help again from the Ravagers, maybe Gamora and Peter will find a way back into each other’s lives, even if it’s just as friends.”

When will GotG 3 come to Disney Plus?

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will release on Disney+ on August 2, 2023.
