The stage musical adaptation of The Notebook is heading to Broadway in Spring 2024, Deadline reported on Thursday. Previews will begin on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre in New York City. Opening night is scheduled for March 14, 2024.

Who is Involved in The Notebook Musical?

Based on Nicholas Sparks’ 1996 novel of the same name, The Notebook musical adaptation features music and lyrics by singer-songwriter Ingrid Michaelson, with a book written by playwright and This is Us producer Bekah Brunstetter.

Michael Greif (Dear Evan Hansen) and Schele Williams (The Wiz) will direct The Notebook with choreography by Katie Spelman (Moulin Rouge! The Musical). Kevin McCollum and Kurt Deutsch will produce. No casting announcements have been made.

Initially announced in 2019, The Notebook premiered at the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre in October 2022.

The Notebook chronicles the love affair between mill worker Noah Calhoun and wealthy heiress Allie Nelson. The Notebook spans over five decades, from their initial meeting into World War II and later through old age as nursing home residents.

The novel became a New York Times Best Seller, leading to the 2004 film adaptation starring Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams. Directed by Nick Cassavetes, The Notebook grossed over $117 million worldwide and catapulted the careers of Gosling and McAdams to stardom.
