Dream Scenario First-Look Photos Feature Nicolas Cage in A24 Film

Vanity Fair has released first-look photos of A24’s Dream Scenario starring Nicolas Cage. Dream Scenario will have its world premiere at TIFF on September 9, 2023. It will then be released in theaters on November 10, 2023.

The images highlight Cage as Paul Matthews, a “mild-mannered professor who goes viral after emerging as a mysterious character in a majority of the world’s subconscious lives.” Dream Scenario is a satire about celebrity culture featuring Cage in some of the “most significant work of his career.”

Who is Involved in Dream Scenario?

Cage stars as Paul Matthews, a teacher who shows up in people’s dreams. The ensemble cast features performances by Julianne Nicholson, Michael Cera, Dylan Gelula, Tim Meadows, and Dylan Baker.

“Nicolas Cage stars as Paul Matthews, a listless family man and tenured professor with an affinity for evolutionary biology and anxiety regarding his own anonymity. One day, he discovers he has begun to appear in other people’s dreams at an exponential rate,” the official description reads. “As in life, his presence in these dreams is banal and non-intrusive — he’s simply there, staring indifferently at the fantasies and nightmares of strangers. Nonetheless, he becomes an overnight celebrity, and is soon showered with the attention he has long been denied. But when Paul encounters a dreamer whose visions of him differ substantially from the norm, he finds himself grappling with the Faustian bargain of fame as his dream-selves start inexplicably becoming violent within their respective subconsciousnesses.”

Dream Scenario is written and directed by Kristoffer Borgli, best known for 2022’s Sick of Myself. Cage produces alongside Ari Aster, Lars Knudsen, Tyler Campellone, and Jacob Jaffke. Production companies include A24 and Square Peg.
