30 Coins Season 2 Trailer Sets Release Date for HBO’s Mystery Horror Series

HBO has released the official 30 Coins Season 2 trailer for the upcoming return of its Spanish horror mystery series, centering around an exorcist who gets exiled to the small town of Pedraza where supernatural occurrences begin to plague its residents. The next installment is scheduled make to premiere on October 23 on HBO and Max.

The video features Oscar nominee Paul Giamatti as he portrays the role of Christian Barbrow, an American tech and business billionaire, who is expected to become one of the antagonists in Season 2. Giamatti’s mysterious character plans to end the world using science and the supernatural.

What to expect in 30 Coins Season 2?

“In the second season, most of the people of Pedraza have lost their minds, confined to a psychiatric hospital,” reads the synopsis. “Elena lies in a Madrid hospital bed in a coma; Paco, shattered by remorse, tries to take care of her. As horror grows around them, our group of heroes must face a new enemy. Someone so perverse that even the devil fears him. But what about Father Vergara? Has he died, along with his archenemy, Cardinal Santoro? Where do they hide, the tortured souls?”

30 Coins is directed and executive produced by Álex de la Iglesia from a script he co-wrote with Jorge Guerricaechevarría. The series currently stars Miguel Ángel Silvestre, Megan Montaner, Eduard Fernández, Macarena Gómez, Pepón Nieto, Cósimo Fusco, Manolo Solo, Nuria González, Javier Bódalo, and Manuel Tallafé. Besides Giamatti, Money Heist alum Najwa Nimri has also joined the Season 2 cast.

Executive producers are Steve Matthews, Miguel Salvat, Antony Root, and Carolina Bang. It hails from Pokeepsie Films and HBO Europe. Season 2 was filmed in multiple countries including Spain, Italy, the US, France, and the UK.
