Screwdriver Release Date Announced for Surreal Psychological Thriller

Having played the festival circuit, Cairo Smith’s surreal psychological thriller Screwdriver heads for VOD next month.

Screwdriver Story Details

Blindsided by divorce, thirty-three-year-old Emily (AnnaClaire Hicks) leaves her adopted Nebraska behind, returning to California with only a suitcase. She seeks refuge in the home of an old high school friend (Charlie Farrell) and his pharmacologist wife (Milly Sanders).

The childless couple welcomes Emily into their lives, but their hospitality soon gives way to a surreal plot of cult-like manipulation and betrayal. As days bleed together, Emily falls into a delirious tailspin, forcing her to question her faith, sanity, and her generous hosts’ intentions.

Screwdriver was written and directed by Cairo Smith, in his feature-length debut. Askari Productions and No Sudden Movies produced the film. Screwdriver made its world premiere on the festival circuit at Dances with Films in Los Angeles and went on to screen around the world at fests, including the SOHO International Film Festival and NYC Independent Film Festival.

Screwdriver spins onto Cable and Digital VOD on November 10, 2023, including Prime Video, Vudu, Vubiquity, Cox, and Comcast.
