Adam McKay to Produce Satirical Comedy Series for TikTok

Adam McKay’s Yellow Dot Studios is set to produce Noble Energy, a satirical short-form comedy series for TikTok. The news comes from Variety, which adds that McKay has become the first traditional Hollywood producer to invest real money into developing a scripted title for TikTok. Other scripted programs are expected to follow.

What’s Noble Energy About?

The show’s official logline reads: “A short-form satirical office comedy about Noble Energy, a family-owned oil company battling against innovation, activists, and each other as they destroy the planet to protect their own interests.”

It consists of 15 episodes, with the first debuting on TikTok as of November 14.

Noble Energy is a Studio 181 production, with co-writing credits going to Cagan, John Connor Hammond, and Jack Reichert, with Cagan also creating, directing, and producing the series and Hammond starring and producing. The cinematography is done by Matt Klahn.

Academy Award-winning McKay is known for Step Brothers, The Big Short, Don’t Look Up, executive producing the HBO drama Succession, and other major comedy blockbusters with his production company Hyper Object.
