Disney’s Wish Box Office Projections See It Break a Major Record Following Pixar’s Coco

Disney’s Wish is currently tracking to make more than $50 million during its opening five-day weekend, which would see it break a major record for original animated movies.

According to Deadline, Disney’s Wish is tracking to make upwards of $50 million at the box office when it opens on November 22, 2023. If the movie hits these projections, it would mark the biggest opening for an original animated movie since 2017’s Coco.

Coco, in comparison, made $72.9 million over its five-day opening weekend when it was released on November 22, 2017. Other animated movies have made more since this on their opening weekend, such as 2023’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie; however, these have all been sequels or movies based on existing properties.

Coco went on to gross $814.3 million at the worldwide box office ($210.4 million of which came from the United States and Canada) by the time its theatrical run was complete. According to Box Office Pro, Wish’s total domestic box office is currently tracking in the $185-289 million range.
