Swagger Canceled At Apple TV+ After 2 Seasons

The Apple TV+ drama series Swagger has officially been canceled after two seasons according to series creator and showrunner Reggie Rock Bythewood.

Bythewood confirmed the news in an Instagram post, thanking the Swagger family for an “amazing adventure” over the past two years. “What an amazing adventure. In our two seasons, we have launched careers, disrupted genre, brought forth humanity through our characters, told stories we care deeply about, revolutionized the way to shoot basketball and had fun. That’s a blessing,” read the post.

The director went on to thank Kevin Durant — who produced the series — and co-producers Brian Grazer, Rich Kleiman, and other people at Imagine Television and CBS Studios. He also thanked Apple for giving him the chance to make the series, as well as everyone who worked on the show.

“Apple, while you are not ordering a season three, I made the show I wanted to make. Thank you for that. Cast, writers and crew, you have my gratitude. Walk on the set with Swagger. Walk off the set with Swagger. For our FAMbase, you lifted us in ways we could never have imagined. To the industry, don’t take your foot off the gas. Keep telling our stories.”

Who was in Swagger?

The series starred O’Shea Jackson Jr., Isaiah Hill, Shinelle Azoroh, and Academy Award nominee Quvenzhané Wallis along with Caleel Harris, James Bingham, Solomon Irama, Ozie Nzeribe, Tessa Ferrer, Tristan Mack Wilds, and Jason Rivera.

“Jace Carson is the best player in the region,” reads the synopsis. “But to achieve his dream of going pro, he must battle opponents on and off the court with the help of his coach, Ike Inspired by the experiences of Kevin Durant, Swagger is about what it takes to make it. Swagger explores the world of competitive youth basketball, and the players, their families and coaches who walk the fine line between dreams and ambition, and opportunism and corruption. Off the court, the show reveals what it’s like to grow up in America.”
