Oceans: Margot Robbie & Ryan Gosling Roles Reportedly Revealed for Prequel

Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling will reportedly be playing Danny and Debbie Ocean’s parents in the upcoming Ocean’s Eleven prequel.

According to ShowBiz411, Robbie and Gosling will be playing Danny (George Clooney) and Debbie’s (Sandra Bullock) mother and father in the upcoming prequel movie, which is reportedly titled Oceans.

What else do we know about the Ocean’s Eleven prequel?

Announced in May 2022, the upcoming Ocean’s prequel is being directed by Meet the Parents and Bombshell’s Jay Roach. The movie will be set in the 1960s around the Monaco Grand Prix.

“Originally there were some questions about whether it would be weird to have (Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling) together again after Barbie,” Roach previously told AP News’ Lindsey Bahr. “But I think there’s just some pairings you want to see over and over again. It’s such a powerful, powerful duo, you know? And it’s and the suspense of will they come together; will they trust each other enough to team up? That’s romantic.”

Roach also said of Robbie’s casting, “Margot brought it to me as a kind of old-fashioned epic love story slash adventure disguised as a heist,” Roach said. “It is a heist movie still, but it’s very much a love story. And we were both inspired by Hitchcock,To Catch a Thief but also Notorious. It just wants to be a big, big, you know, cinematic spectacle.”

Lewis Milestone originally made Ocean’s 11 with the Rat Pack in 1960. Steven Soderbergh made an Ocean’s Eleven remake in 2001 with Clooney, Brad Pitt, and Matt Damon, which then spawned a franchise. Ocean’s Twelve followed in 2004 before Ocean’s Thirteen then arrived in 2007. In 2018, Gary Ross made a prequel, Ocean’s 8, which revolved around Debbie and more characters played by Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Awkwafina, and more.

Whether or not Clooney and Bullock will appear in the upcoming prequel movie is unclear at this time.
