According to Deadline, Legendary Television has successfully acquired the rights to Hannah Nicole Maehrer’s debut novel Assistant to the Villain. The studio is currently planning to develop the novel, described as a romantic fantasy story, into a series.

What is Assistant to the Villain about?

Assistant to the Villain is being described as The Office meets The Princess Bride. Further details about the series adaptation are still being kept under wraps. Before her debut novel was published last August, Maehrer gained recognition as a BookToker on TikTok, where she posts a series of videos depicting different kinds of stories. She currently has more than 290,000 followers on TikTok and has earned 27 million likes.

The novel’s official synopsis reads: “With ailing family to support, Evie Sage’s employment status isn’t just important, it’s vital.
