Sean Gunn’s New DC Universe Role Revealed

After having appeared in quite a few superhero movies, actor Sean Gunn‘s new DC Universe role has been revealed.

Deadline has reported that Gunn will play the supervillain and businessman Maxwell Lord in the new DCU. The outlet notes that it’s unclear if the character will cameo in the upcoming movie Superman: Legacy, which is being directed by Sean Gunn’s brother and DC Studios Co-CEO James Gunn. Its sources state that Lord will be referenced in the background of the film and go on to fully appear in later projects.

This isn’t the first time Maxwell Lord has appeared in a DC film, as 2020’s Wonder Woman 1984 featured the character (then played by The Last of Us star Pedro Pascal) in a prominent role.

What other comic book movie roles has Sean Gunn had?

Sean Gunn has played a few characters across both Marvel and DC in different James Gunn-directed movies. In the Guardians of the Galaxy films and related content, Gunn played the Ravager and eventual Guardians member Kraglin Obfonteri. On the DC side, the actor played both Weasel and Calendar Man in 2021’s The Suicide Squad and will play the character G.I. Robot in addition to reprising Weasel in the upcoming Creature Commandos animated series.
