The Strangers Chapter 1 Release Date Confirmed for Horror Reboot

Renny Harlin’s The Strangers Chapter 1 release date has been revealed by star Madelaine Petsch along with a new teaser for the first part of a reboot trilogy.

The Strangers Chapter 1 Release Date

In an Instagram post, Petsch revealed the date for The Strangers: Chapter 1 as May 17, 2024.

The Strangers: Chapter 1 stars Madelaine Petsch (Riverdale) as a young woman named Maya starting a new life with her fiancé Ryan, played by Froy Gutierrez (Teen Wolf, Cruel Summer). During a road trip stop at a remote vacation rental in the woods, they become the prey of a mysterious gang of masked strangers who attack without warning or reason. Harlin explains that the first film, written by Alan R. Cohen & Alan Freedland, “is close to the original movie in its set-up of a young couple in an isolated environment in a house and a home invasion happening for random reasons.”

Why a trilogy? Well, Director Renny Harlin says it helps “explore what happens to the victims of this kind of violence and who the perpetrators are of this kind of violence. Where are they coming from and why?”

The Strangers came out in 2008 and starred Scott Speedman and Liv Tyler as a couple under siege from three masked strangers. The movie gained a lot of attention for its cold, bleak take on home invasion. A sequel The Strangers: Prey at Night appeared in 2018, and both movies did reasonably well at the box office on modest budgets.

All three entries in The Strangers Trilogy are due to be released in 2024
