The White Lotus Season 3 Reportedly Eying Carrie Coon for Key Role

Carrie Coon is reportedly being eyed for a key role in the third season of HBO’s The White Lotus.

According to Jeff Sneider’s The InSneider, Coon is reportedly in talks for a major role in the Thailand-set The White Lotus Season 3. The casting has not been officially announced by HBO at this time, though Deadline previously reported that the season is looking to fill thirteen roles (nine of which will be series regulars), including a “patriarch, a corporate executive, an actress, a couple of mothers, a misfit, and a yogi.”

The only cast member who has been confirmed for The White Lotus Season 3 thus far is Natasha Rothwell, who reprises her role as Belinda from the first two seasons.

What has Carrie Coon been in before?

Coon is perhaps best known for playing Nora Durst in HBO’s The Leftovers, which was created by Damon Lindelof, alongside Justin Theroux. She also plays Bertha Russell in HBO’s The Gilded Age and starred in the third season of FX’s Fargo, among other television roles.

In film, Coon has starred in 2014’s Gone Girl, 2017’s The Post, 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War, 2018’s Widows, 2020’s The Nest, and 2021’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife. She’s set to reprise her role as Callie Spengler in the upcoming Ghostbusters: Afterlife sequel, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, which releases in United States theaters on March 29, 2024.

Created by Mike White, the first season of The White Lotus debuted in 2021 and starred Jennifer Coolidge, Murray Bartlett, Connie Britton, Alexandra Daddario, Fred Hechinger, Steve Zahn, Sydney Sweeney, and more. Coolidge returned for the second season, which aired in 2022, alongside a host of newcomers such as F. Murray Abraham, Michael Imperioli, Haley Lu Richardson, Aubrey Plaza, Simona Tabasco, and more.

The White Lotus Season 3 does not yet have an official release date, but will likely premiere in 2025. Filming begins in February 2024.
