The Mandalorian Movie Announced, Title Revealed for Star Wars Film
After plenty of rumors and speculation, it’s been revealed that a theatrical movie focused on The Mandalorian will be entering production soon.
Revealed on the official Star Wars website, the film is titled The Mandalorian & Grogu. The movie will be directed by series creator Jon Favreau and produced by Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, and Dave Filoni and is set to enter production this year.
“I have loved telling stories set in the rich world that George Lucas created,” Favreau stated. “The prospect of bringing the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is extremely exciting.”
“Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have ushered into Star Wars two new and beloved characters, and this new story is a perfect fit for the big screen,” said Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy.

What is The Mandalorian about?
“The journeys of the Mandalorian through the Star Wars galaxy continue. Once a lone bounty hunter, Din Djarin has reunited with Grogu,” says the synopsis for Season 3. “Meanwhile, the New Republic struggles to lead the galaxy away from its dark history. The Mandalorian will cross paths with old allies and make new enemies as he and Grogu continue their journey together.”
The series hails from executive producers Dave Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy, Colin Wilson, Karen Gilchrist, and Carrie Beck. Favreau served as showrunner and one of the third season’s directors. Seasons 1-3 are now available for streaming on Disney+.
