Harry Potter TV Reboot Status Revealed by WB Chairperson

Following David Heyman’s promise to “explore the books more deeply,” Warner Bros. TV Group chairperson Channing Dungey revealed the status of the planned Wizarding World series.

While it has already been announced that Warner Bros. TV will be producing the Harry Potter reboot for Max, the planned series is still in its early stages of development. This also means there are still no showrunners or cast members attached to the project. However, in an interview with Variety, Dungey said that they are speaking with various writers about the show’s future.

“We’re in conversations with a number of different writers to figure out who’s going to be the person to lead that franchise for us. The first step for us is figuring out who this showrunner is going to be and once we get that locked down, then we can start having those [casting] conversations. The tricky part is the first two books, where the kids are on the younger end, around 11 or 12,” said Dungey.

According to Variety, Dungey also noted that the rumors about casting already commencing are merely just rumors and are “inaccurate.”

How many seasons will there be in the planned Harry Potter TV revival?

While other details about the project are still up in the air, the Harry Potter reboot will reportedly consist of seven seasons, with each season exploring all seven installments in the fantasy book series J.K. Rowling created.
