Coraline 3D Remastered Gets Theatrical Release Date for 15th Anniversary

To celebrate the upcoming 15th anniversary of Coraline, LAIKA Studios will once again bring the critically acclaimed animated film back to the big screen this August in Remastered 3D.

The Henry Selick directed stop-motion feature previously made its return to theaters on August 14, 2023. Proving its fan-favorite status, last year’s theatrical re-release of Coraline earned $5 million in two days according to Forbes. This immediately placed the film on the list of the highest-earning re-releases to date, joining Titanic, Avatar, Grease, Jaws, The Wizard of Oz, and The Godfather.

Of course, with most fans still not over the animated tale and with Coraline being introduced to a new generation of viewers, this year’s re-release is anticipated to score yet another massive earning. You can sign up for early access to tickets through LAIKA Studios’ official website.

What is Coraline about?

Based on Neil Gaiman’s novel, Coraline is a stop-motion animated movie that follows the adventures of a young girl who found a magical portal to a parallel world where her life is much better. However, the seemingly perfect world hides some horrifying secrets.

The synopsis for Coraline reads: “A young girl walks through a secret door in her new home and discovers an alternate version of her life. On the surface, this parallel reality is eerily similar to her real life – only much better. But when this wondrously off-kilter, fantastical adventure turns dangerous and her counterfeit parents try to keep her forever, Coraline must count on her resourcefulness, determination, and bravery to save her family and get back home.”

The voice cast for Coraline includes Dakota Fanning as Coraline Jones, John Hodgman as Charlie Jones, Teri Hatcher as Mel Jones, Dawn French as Miriam Forcible, Jennifer Saunders as April Spink, Robert Bailey Jr. as Wybie Lovat, Carolyn Crawford as Mrs. Lovat, Ian McShane as Sergei Alexander Bobinsky, and Keith David as The Cat.
