Prom Dates Clip Sets Release Date for Hulu Coming-Of-Age Comedy

Hulu has officially unveiled the release date for its coming-of-age comedy film Prom Dates. Along with a first-look clip, the streamer also announced that the film — produced by Kevin Hart‘s Hartbeat — will be arriving on May 3.

The film will center on a year-old pact made by two best friends, who both promise to have the perfect senior prom of their lives. However, as the big event is looming closer on the horizon and with both of them having previously broken up with their dates, they only have one night left to find new dates and make their childhood dreams come true.

Check out the first-look for Prom Dates down below:

In the newly released clip, Kenny Ridwan’s Greg stages a performance to surprise Julia Lester’s Hannah with the ultimate, banana-filled promposal.

Per the official synopsis, the upcoming teen comedy will follow Jess and Hannah, “who made a pact at 13 to have the perfect senior prom. Despite the impending changes that college will bring over the next four years, the two are committed to honoring their prom pact. But with only 24 hours left before the big event, everything falls apart when they break up with each of their dates. Jess and Hannah are left with one night to find new dates and live out their middle-school fantasies.”

Who else is involved in Prom Dates?

Directed by Kim O. Nguyen (Never Have I Ever) and written by D.J. Mausner (Baroness Von Sketch Show), Prom Dates stars Lester (High School Musical: The Musical: The Series) as Hannah and Antonia Gentry (Ginny & Georgia) as Jess.

The rest of the cast includes JT Neal (Bless This Mess), Jordan Buhat (Grown-ish), Zión Moreno (Gossip Girl), Terry Hu (Never Have I Ever), John Michael Higgins (Licorice Pizza), and Chelsea Handler (Chelsea Lately).

Joining Hart in the producer’s chair are American High’s Jeremy Garelick, Will Phelps, and Molle DeBartolo, Hartbeat’s Bryan Smiley and Luke Kelly-Clyne, and LD Entertainment’s Mickey Liddell and Pete Shilaimon. Executive producers are Kevin Healey, Thai Randolph, Michael Glassman, Mausner, and Andrew Reyes.
