Heroes Reboot Gets Title, First Details on Timeline

The upcoming reboot of Heroes, the popular superhero series that premiered in 2006, has been given a title.

According to Deadline, the forthcoming reboot of NBC’s Heroes will be called Heroes: Eclipsed.

Heroes: Eclipsed will be written by Tim Kring, who created the original NBC series starring Milo Ventimiglia, Hayden Panettiere, Masi Oka, Adrian Pasdar, and Greg Grunberg.

Deadline’s description of the new series reads, “Heroes: Eclipsed is set years after the events of the original series as new evos are being awakened and discovering powers that will change their lives. Featuring familiar villains and new enemies who once again will be attempting to suppress this next step in human evolution, it will be up to this new group of heroes to save the world.”

Heroes: Eclipsed is envisioned as an ongoing series and has already been pitched to NBC and other streamers. Kring will executive produce the show alongside Jordan Cerf.

What was the original Heroes series about?

All four seasons of Heroes are currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video. The synopsis for the show, which ended in 2010 after four seasons, reads, “The series tells the stories of ordinary people who discover that they have superhuman abilities and how these abilities take effect in the characters’ lives as they work together to prevent catastrophic futures.”

Heroes was followed by a 13-episode miniseries, Heroes Reborn, that premiered in 2015. Kring returned to executive producer Heroes Reborn, which starred Jack Coleman, Zachary Levi, Robbie Kay, Danika Yarosh, and Kiki Sukezane.

There was also a spin-off series, Heroes: Origins, that was originally going to air after the second season of Heroes; however, it was delayed because of the 2007-2008 Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike before it was ultimately scrapped in 2008.

A release date for Heroes: Eclipsed has not yet been announced.
