PDP Kicks As Police Officer Kills Businessman In Aba

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State has denounced the killing of Aba-based businessman Mr. Emmanuel Okocha by a police officer, condemning the incident as tragic and senseless.

The party in a statement signed by its Vice Chairman and acting Publicity Secretary, Abraham Amah, on Saturday, commended the state Police Command for swiftly arresting Corporal Obagi Njok, the officer who shot the victim along Aba-Owerri road.

The PDP while describing the deceased Abriba-born businessman as innocent, said it was a shocking act of violence which must be condemned in strongest terms.

“We commend the Abia State Police Command for their swift response in apprehending the officer responsible, Corporal Obagi Njoku, and for initiating disciplinary actions against him.

“We also note the command’s stated commitment to upholding professionalism and the rule of law, as demonstrated in their handling of this unfortunate incident.

“As a party, we stand in solidarity with the bereaved family and the Abiriba community in urging for justice to be served and for measures to be put in place to prevent such tragic incidents from occurring in the future,” the statement said.

The PDP also commiserated with the family and friends of the victim.
