Wake Up Dead Man: Knives Out 3 Adds First Cast Members To Join Daniel Craig

Development on Wake Up Dead Man has picked up steam, adding new leads to star alongside Daniel Craig’s Benoit Blanc. Like past films in the franchise, Knives Out 3 is expected to assemble a new ensemble cast for another murder mystery event. It has begun with two additions to the cast already.

Josh O’Connor and Cailee Spaeny join Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery

Following the official title announcement for Knives Out 3, the cast of the upcoming sequel is beginning to take shape.

Per What’s On Netflix, Josh O’Connor, known for starring in God’s Own Country, and playing Prince Charles in The Crown, will be playing a key role in the sequel. He also appeared in Challengers alongside Zendaya. He will also be joined by Cailee Spaeny in Knives Out 3.

Spaeny previously portrayed Elvis Presley’s wife Priscilla Presley in Sofia Coppola’s Priscilla. She also starred in A24’s Civil War recently. The roles of the two actors are yet to be revealed as the plot details of Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery are currently under wraps.

After the above title announcement, Rian Johnson took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his love for whodunnit murder mysteries. He wrote:

“I love everything about whodunnits, but one of the things I love most is how malleable the genre is. There’s a whole tonal spectrum from Carr to Christie, and getting to explore that range is one of the most exciting things about making Benoit Blanc movies.”

Johnson further teased the production schedule of Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery in a follow-up X post on Friday:

“We’re about to go into production on the third one, and I’m very, very excited to share the title, which gives a little hint of where it’s going.”

With filming about to start, the names of more actors joining the next Knives Out sequel could be revealed soon. Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery is expected to hit Netflix sometime in 2025.
