Creature Commandos Release Date Window Set for James Gunn’s DCU Series
Creature Commandos has been given an official release date window.
Announced at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, via an X post from Bloody Disgusting, Creature Commandos will premiere on Max in December 2024. An exact release date has not yet been announced.
What do we know about James Gunn’s Creature Commandos?
Written by showrunner James Gunn, Creature Commandos will be the first official project in Gunn and Peter Safran’s forthcoming DCU.
The animated series follows Amanda Waller as she assembles a team of monsters called the Creature Commandos to go on dangerous missions.
The series’ voice cast includes Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Maria Bakalova as Princess Ilana Rostovic, Indira Varma as the Bride of Frankenstein, Zoë Chao as Nina Mazursky, Alan Tudyk as Doctor Phosphorus, David Harbour as Eric Frankenstein, Sean Gunn as G.I. Robot and Weasel, Steve Agee as John Economos, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, and Anya Chalotra as Circe.
The 7-episode series is executive produced by Gunn, Safran, and Sam Register, while Lisa Hallbauer, Kip Brown, and Karina Benesh serve as producers.
Following Creature Commandos, the DCU will expand in July 2025 with Gunn’s Superman, which stars David Corenswet as the Man of Steel, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Wendell Pierce as Perry White, and Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, among others.
Other forthcoming television series that will be part of the first slate of DCU projects, which is titled Chapter One: Gods and Monsters, include Peacemaker Season 2, Waller, Lanterns, Paradise Lost, Booster Gold, and an untitled Arkham series. Forthcoming DCU movies include Craig Gillespie’s Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow with Milly Alcock, Andy Muschietti’s The Brave and the Bold, James Mangold’s Swamp Thing, The Authority, and a Teen Titans movie.
Creature Commandos will premiere in December 2024 on Max.
