In a recent discussion, veteran actress Sigourney Weaver also shed light on her future in the Avatar universe.
Sigourney Weaver confirms plans for Avatar 4 and 5
Sigourney Weaver recently revealed that she will be making appearances in Cameron’s upcoming Avatar 4 and Avatar 5.
Weaver famously portrayed the character of Dr. Grace Augustine in the first Avatar movie. Augustine ended up giving her life during the conflict between humans and the Na’vi. Nevertheless, Weaver was able to return for Avatar: The Way of Water as Kiri, the 14-year-old daughter of Augustine’s Na’vi counterpart.
Earlier, the Alien actress had already confirmed her participation in the third part of the film series, which is titled Avatar: Fire and Ash. Now, while talking to Deadline, Sigourney Weaver touched down upon her role in future Avatar installments. The 74-year-old thespian congratulated James Cameron on his work and also gave insight into her involvement with the third film.
“I’m so glad for Jim, and for the success of these films, which has meant we’re able to keep making them,” Weaver stated. “I just finished working on Avatar 3 earlier this month, actually, and I think the series will continue to grow and be more and more hard-hitting,” she added.
When questioned about her role in Avatar 4 and 5, and whether she will appear in them, Sigourney Weaver replied, “Yes, I think I’m allowed to say that.” She also provided details on their development, claiming that the movies have already been written. “We know what they are. They’re really good. But Jim is still finishing three. It’s nice to look forward to them,” she further stated.
The titles of the fourth and fifth movies are currently being kept under wraps. Moreover, it is unknown whether Sigourney Weaver will return as Kiri or undertake another role in the forthcoming Avatar films.
The third entry in the franchise, Avatar: Fire and Ash, will hit theatres on December 19, 2025.
