New Cyberpunk Netflix Anime Announced Following Edgerunners’ Success
A new Cyberpunk 2077 anime series has been teased by Netflix and CD Projekt Red, inviting fans to get ready to return to Night City.
What do we know about the new Cyberpunk anime?
During Netflix’s Geeked Week celebration, a surprising and mysterious teaser was aired. In it, the Netflix symbol was “hijacked,” turning yellow and asking people to return to Night City before flashing the Cyberpunk logo. In their posts online, Netflix simply said that more information was “coming soon” on whatever the project is.
Check out the new teaser video for Netflix and CD Projekt Red’s newest animated series below:
The video was extremely brief and didn’t mention anything in the way of details or whether or not the project is connected to the hit 2022 anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, which was also based on the Cyberpunk 2077 video game and intended as a standalone work. Netflix also didn’t mention any studio, but did say that the project was coming from Netflix Animation, an in-house studio that often collaborates with other studios on projects.
The new Cyberpunk anime comes following the incredible success of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. Edgerunners was a 10-episode anime set in the world of 2020’s Cyberpunk 2077. The series acted as a standalone story about a street kid named David and the struggles he went through in Night City. The anime was produced by Studio Trigger, who fans may know from their work on Gurren Lagann and Kill la Kill.
