The Shrouds Release Date Window Revealed for David Cronenberg’s New Movie

The release date window for David Cronenberg’s new horror film The Shrouds has been unveiled after it was acquired for US theatrical release by Sideshow and Janus Films.

Written and directed by the legendary horror filmmaker, the new horror feature previously had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. It stars Vincent Cassel (Irréversible, Black Swan) and Diane Kruger (Troy, Inglourious Basterds).

When is The Shrouds release date window?

According to Deadline, Sideshow and Janus Films are planning a Spring 2025 theatrical release for The Shrouds.

“Building on a long history with David Cronenberg that has included releases of Videodrome, Scanners, The Brood, Crash, Dead Ringers, and Naked Lunch, Janus Films and Criterion are very proud to be working with Sideshow and Saïd Ben Saïd, Martin Katz and Anthony Vaccarello to premiere The Shrouds, a major new work by the Canadian master in the United States,” Sideshow and Janus Films said in a statement shared by the outlet.

The Shrouds centers on a businessman who invented a controversial device that allows living people to communicate with those who are already dead. Cassel plays prominent businessman Karsh, while Kruger plays three different characters: Becca, Terry, and Hunny. The Shrouds also stars Guy Pearce (L.A. Confidential) as Maury, Sandrine Holt (House of Cards) as Soo-Min Szabo, Elizabeth Saunders (All My Puny Sorrows) as Gray Foner, and Jennifer Dale (Into Invisible Light) as Myrna Slotnik.

“Karsh, 50, is a prominent businessman. Inconsolable since the death of his wife, he invents GraveTech, revolutionary and controversial technology that enables the living to monitor their dear departed in their shrouds. One night, multiple graves, including that of Karsh’s wife, are desecrated. Karsh sets out to track down the perpetrators,” the synopsis reads.

Cronenberg is known for incorporating sci-fi and horror into his work, which is evident in Shivers (1975), Rabid (1977), and The Fly (1986), among others.
