Although the third Paddington movie, Paddington in Peru, isn’t out yet, film distribution company StudioCanal says that a Paddington 4 and more are on the way.
What do we know about Paddington 4?
During an appearance at the recent Brand Licensing 2024 Europe convention (via THR), StudioCanal CEO Françoise Guyonnet revealed that more Paddington is coming in the form of a fourth movie, as well as a new television series that is in development.
“We are also working on a new TV series and a new movie to come in 2027, ’28,” Guyonnet said. Should a fourth film release in either of those years, it’ll also coincide close to the 70th anniversary of the Paddington franchise as a whole.
Currently, not much else is known about the future of the Paddington franchise. For now, Paddington in Peru is set to release on November 8, 2024, in the United Kingdom, with a January 17, 2025 release set for across the pond in the United States.
“Paddington in Peru brings Paddington’s story to Peru as he returns to visit his beloved Aunt Lucy, who now resides at the Home for Retired Bears,” the official synopsis reads. “With the Brown Family in tow, a thrilling adventure ensues when a mystery plunges them into an unexpected journey through the Amazon rainforest and up to the mountain peaks of Peru.”
The third Paddington movie is directed by Dougal Wilson, with this being Wilson’s feature film directorial debut. Paul King, who directed the first two Paddington movies before he then went on to make 2023’s Wonka, contributed to the story and also serves as an executive story.
