Daniel Craig Hopes Netflix Gives Knives Out 3 a Proper Theatrical Release

Daniel Craig is hopeful that Netflix will allow Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, also known as Knives Out 3, to play in movie theaters for longer than a week.

Craig first played detective Benoit Blanc in 2019’s Knives Out, which was distributed by Lionsgate and received a proper, full-length theatrical release in November 2019.

The rights to distribute the sequel, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, were acquired by Netflix. The company gave the movie a one-week theatrical release in November 2022 before it was then added to the streaming service the following month. To date, Glass Onion is the widest release Netflix has ever done.

Netflix is also releasing the third film in the Knives Out franchise, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery. The film is expected to come out in 2025, though Netflix has not yet announced how it will be released.

What did Daniel Craig say about Knives Out 3’s release?

Speaking with Variety, Craig said he was hopeful that Netflix will allow Knives Out 3 to play in theaters for a longer amount of time than Glass Onion did.

“Hopefully, Netflix will push it out a bit, and people will get to see it,” he said. “The people I speak to — the fans, I suppose — all they want to do is take their families and go see it at the cinemas. That’s all they want to do. Hopefully, we can give them that experience.”

Along with Craig, Knives Out 3 will star Josh O’Connor, Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, Andrew Scott, Cailee Spaeny, Daryl McCormack, and Thomas Haden. Rian Johnson, who helmed Knives Out and Glass Onion, is once again returning to write and direct the new film.

Plot details for Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery remain under wraps at this time.
