Black Panther 3: Denzel Washington Confirmed to Make MCU Debut

During an appearance on The Today Show, Denzel Washington dropped a Marvel Cinematic Universe bombshell by confirming that he will appear in Black Panther 3.

“I’m playing Hannibal. I’ve been talking to Steve McQueen about a film. After that, Ryan Coogler is writing a part for me in the next Black Panther,” said Washington of his career. “After that, I’m gonna do the film Othello. After that, I’m going to do King Lear. After that, I’m going to retire.”

Washington’s announcement also confirms that Ryan Coogler will return for the third Black Panther movie, which wasn’t officially announced by Marvel but was a given following the success of the first two movies. The two-time Academy Award winner is best known for his work in Glory, Training Day, Malcolm X, Flight, Man on Fire, and The Equalizer. He’ll next appear in Gladiator II, which is out next week. Washington, 69, has been open about wanting to be selective about his final roles.
