Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx Are Unretired Spies in Back in Action Trailer

Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx are spies who are coming out of retirement in the first trailer for Back in Action.

Back in Action is a new Netflix movie that will be released this coming January. It stars Diaz and Foxx as a married couple who previously gave up their careers as spies; however, once their cover is blown, they have no choice but to return to the world they left behind.

What happens in the Back in Action trailer?

The Back in Action trailer finds Diaz and Foxx’s character navigating their way through a number of different, ultra-dangerous scenarios as they take down bad guys in order to protect themselves and their loved ones. At one point near the end of the trailer, the duo is seen parachuting out of an airplane that is crashing into a snowy mountain.

“Years after giving up life as CIA spies to start a family, Emily and Matt find themselves dragged back into the world of espionage when their cover is blown,” the synopsis for the movie reads.

Along with Diaz and Foxx, the cast of Back in Action includes Kyle Chandler (Lanterns), Andrew Scott (Ripley), Jamie Demetriou (Cruella), McKenna Roberts (Skyscraper), Rylan Jackson (Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves), and Glenn Close (Fatal Attraction).

The movie is directed by Seth Gordon, whose previous filmography includes 2008’s Four Christmases, 2011’s Horrible Bosses, 2013’s Identity Thief, and 2017’s Baywatch, among other titles. Gordon co-wrote the screenplay for Back in Action with Brendan O’Brien (Neighbors).

Jenno Topping, Peter Chernin, and Sharla Sumpter Bridgett are producing the movie for Chernin Entertainment, as are Beau Bauman for Good One Productions and Gordon for Exhibit A. Foxx, Datari Turner, Brendan O’Brien, and Tim Lewis are serving as executive producers.

Back in Action releases on Netflix on January 17, 2025.
