When Calls the Heart Season 13 Renewed at Hallmark

Hallmark Channel has renewed the Western drama TV series When Calls the Heart for Season 13. Created by Michael Landon Jr. & Brian Bird and based on the book of the same name from Janette Oke’s Canadian West Series, When Calls the Heart debuted on Hallmark on January 11, 2014. The series subsequently began airing in Canada on Super Channel in 2014.

Hallmark renews When Calls the Heart for Season 13

When Calls the Heart Season 13 has been greenlit at Hallmark Media. The previous season debuted on January 5, 2025, and aired for 12 episodes before concluding on March 23, 2025. Hallmark disclosed their decision while the finale was on air.

Samantha DiPippo, the Senior Vice President of Programming at Hallmark Media, called the fans of When Calls the Heart a “connected community” in a statement. “Hearties are far more than a fan base — they are a connected community, as loyal and supportive as the characters of Hope Valley,” DiPippo said. “It is an honor to tell stories of hope, resilience, humor, and romance that continue to resonate with millions of viewers for twelve seasons and beyond.” (via TVLine)

Actress Erin Krakow, who portrays series protagonist Elizabeth Thatcher in the show, took to X (formerly Twitter) to thank the fans. “Thank you so much for watching and tweeting with us all season #Hearties! We are THRILLED to be returning for a S13! A big thank you to #PeterDeluise who directed tonight’s episode and #LindsaySturman who wrote it,” she shared.

When Calls the Heart is predominantly set in the early 1900s. Elizabeth Thatcher is a teacher whose first classroom assignment takes her to the fictional town of Coal Valley (later Hope Valley). The series explores Elizabeth’s gradually developing relationships with the people of her new home, the complex outlook that the townsfolk have on coal mining, how tragic mining incidents mold their lives, and how they still insist upon holding onto their hopes and dreams.

The cast of When Calls the Heart also includes Martin Cummins as Henry Gowen, Pascale Hutton as Rosemary, Kevin McGarry as Nathan Grant, and Chris McNally as Lucas Bouchard.

When the Calls the Heart Season 13 will debut on Hallmark Channel sometime in 2026, and a day later on Hallmark+.
