Netflix has released the She The People trailer for the upcoming political comedy led by Terri J. Vaughn (Daddy’s Little Girls). This serves as the second show that Tyler Perry has created for the streamer, following Beauty in Black‘s successful series debut last October 2024. Besides the hit family drama, Perry also recently worked with Netflix on the Kerry Washington-led movie The Six Triple Eight, and the legal thriller movie Duplicity, which are now both available for streaming.

“In the series, Lieutenant Governor candidate Antoinette Dunkerson runs a successful campaign and now must figure out how to thrive under a sexist and condescending governor while attempting to keep her family in line now that they’re all in the public eye,” reads the official logline.

When are the She The People release dates?

She The People is a 16-episode comedy, which will be divided into two parts. Part 1 is scheduled to make its debut on May 22, while Part 2 will start streaming on August 14. The ensemble cast will also include Jo Marie Payton (Meet the Browns), Jade Novah (That’s My Jam), Drew Olivia Tillman (This Is Us), Tré Boyd (House of Payne), and Dyon Brooks (A Naughty Christmess Story).

The series is created by Perry and Niya Palmer, with the former also serving as the writer and director. This is a part of Perry’s multi-year deal with the streamer. It is executive produced by Palmer, Keisha Lance Bottoms, and Terri J. Vaughn, with Perry, Angi Bones, and Tony Strickland producing for Tyler Perry Studios.
