20 Pounds to Happiness Trailer Shows Follow-up to Real Women Have Curves

ComingSoon is debuting an exclusive 20 Pounds to Happiness trailer for MultiVisionnaire Pictures’ upcoming romantic comedy, starring Yelyna De León (Will and Grace, Snowfall). It is being described as a companion piece to 2002’s American Ferrera-led dramedy movie Real Women Have Curves.

MultiVisionnaire Pictures will be introduce the upcoming movie to global buyers at this year’s Marché du Film at Cannes, with a market screening on Tuesday, May 14th at noon in Screening Room Palais C. There, the company will meet with distributors from theatrical, television, and brand recognizable digital platforms from around the world.

What is 20 Pounds to Happiness about?

“20 Pounds to Happiness is about a full-figured Latina in a Real Women Have Curves Support Group who must decide between staying loyal to her girlfriends and risk losing the man of her dreams. 20 Pounds to Happiness is a follow-up companion piece to Real Women Have Curves,” reads the official synopsis.

The movie is also directed and produced by De León from a screenplay written by Sundance Audience Award-winning scribe Josefina López, who’s known as the writer of the original Real Women Have Curves movie, and its Broadway version. This marks De León’s feature-length directorial debut. The cast also includes Carlo Mendez, Riley Shanahan, Christiana Leucas, Soledad St. Hilaire, Iyari Limon, Rafael Sigler, and Tricia Cruz, with López also set as a producer. The creative team also includes cinematographer Rapha Bola, editor Yang-Hua Hu, and composer Jose Juan Villegas Martinez.

The film will have a total runtime of 100 minutes or an hour and 40 minutes.
