Neon has officially released the first Alpha teaser trailer, previewing the next film from Julia Ducournau, the director of Raw and Titane.

What happens in the Alpha teaser trailer?

The teaser trailer details the story of a troubled 13-year-old who comes home with a mysterious tattoo on her arm one day. The trailer doesn’t show off too much, but does look to be just as chaotic and emotional as Ducournau’s previous two films.

Alpha stars Mélissa Boros, Golfhisfteh Farahani, Tahar Rahim, Emma Mackey, Finnegan Oldfield, Louai El Amrousy, Jean-Charles Clichet, and Christophe Perez. The film is written by Ducournau, and will have its world premiere in the main competition of the 2025 Cannes Film Festival.

“Alpha, a troubled 13-year-old lives with her single mom. Their world collapses the day she returns from school with a tattoo on her arm,” reads the brief synopsis for the film.

Ducournau’s debut film was 2016’s coming-of-age body horror drama Raw, which received critical acclaim upon its release. Her follow-up movie, Titane, also earned massive praise, with Ducournau becoming the second female director to win the Palme d’Or at Cannes.
