Universal Pictures has shared a brand new Wicked: For Good video for the upcoming sequel to 2024’s acclaimed musical fantasy drama. Led by Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda, the highly-anticipated movie will arrive in theaters on November 21, 2025.

What happens in the Wicked: For Good video?

The brief video shows a glass window breaking, which seemingly teases the inevitable riff between the Wicked Witch of the West Elphaba and Glinda the Good. This was also hinted in the sequel’s official poster, where they are both facing each other on opposite sides. In a previous interview, Bridgerton breakout Jonathan Bailey, who’s set to reprise Fiyero Tigelaar, teased that that the “world gets heavier and more complicated” in the sequel, while also expressing his excitement for fans to see the tonal shift in the story.

The sequel is once again directed by Jon M. Chu from a screenplay written by Winnie Holzman and Dana Fox. Also returning for the sequel alongside Erivo, Grande, and Bailey are Ethan Slater as Boq Woodsman, Marissa Bode as Nessarose Thropp, Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, and Jeff Goldblum as The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. The first installment currently holds a Certified Fresh rating of 87% on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 391 reviews. It won two of its ten Oscar nominations, including Best Costume Design and Best Production Design.
