Practical Magic 2 Cast: Joey King in Talks, Role Revealed
Golden Globe-nominated actresss Joey King has entered negotiations to join the Practical Magic 2 cast for the upcoming sequel to the 1998 supernatural comedy. Should her casting be finalized, King will play one of lead character’s daughters, who will be the one to “discover the dark family secrets and her own dark powers, plunging the family into a crisis.”
King was most recently seen in two Netflix movies last year, including the coming-of-age sci-fi movie Uglies, and the romantic comedy A Family Affair. She’s best known for her acclaimed performance in the Hulu miniseries The Act, which earned her an Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for Best Actress.
Who will lead the Practical Magic 2 cast?
Practical Magic 2 will officially feature the return of Academy Award winners Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock. The sequel will be directed by actor-turned-filmmaker Griffin Dunne (An American Werewolf in London). from a screenplay written by original scribe Akiva Goldsman and Georgie Pritchett. It is produced by Kidman, Bullock, and Denise Di Novi. Production will reportedly start in the late summer in London.
Based on the 1995 novel of the same name by Alice Hoffman, the original movie was directed by Griffe Dunne. It also starred Dianne Wiest, Stockard Channing, and Aidan Quinn. In the original movie, Kidman and Bullock portrayed the respective roles of Gillian and Sally Owens, who are sisters that came from a long line of witches. They must team up together to channel their magic to destroy the malicious spirit of Gillian’s abusive boyfriend Jimmy before he truly harms them.
