Agatha: Coven of Chaos Will Reportedly Not Feature Mephisto

Rumors about Marvel villain Mephisto’s potential debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe began to circulate during WandaVision’s 2020 Disney+ run, where fans started making theories about his involvement in Wanda’s story due to his connection with Scarlet Witch in the comics. Until now, fans continued to speculate on Mephisto’s impending MCU appearance, with Sacha Baron Cohen reportedly attached to portray the villain.

As Marvel Studios continues to tap into the supernatural realm with the upcoming Agatha: Coven of Chaos, it is rumored that Mephisto might finally show up in the Disney+ series. However, according to Marvel Scooper CanWeGetToast on Instagram, the extra-dimensional Demon won’t be appearing in Agatha: Coven of Chaos after all, noting that he might possibly be mentioned through Agatha’s son Nicholas Scratch. Besides the Kathryn Hahn-led series, Mephisto’s appearance in Ironheart and in a Marvel Studios special presentation are being heavily speculated.

Kathryn Hahn Leads Agatha: Coven of Chaos

Agatha: Coven of Chaos will feature Kathryn Hahn reprising her fan-favorite role as Agatha Harkness from WandaVision, who was one of the Elizabeth Olsen-led series’ antagonists and is the one who revealed Wanda’s true potential as the Scarlet Witch. For her fan-favorite performance, she earned an Emmy nomination for Best Supporting Actress.

The series will also see the return of Emma Caulfield Ford and Debra Jo Rupp, who are reprising their roles as Westview residents. Joining them are MCU newcomers Aubrey Plaza, Joe Locke Ali Ahn, Maria Dizzia, Sasheer Zamata, and Patti LuPone, with Locke rumored to be the male lead and LuPone set to play Sicilian witch Lilia Calderu. LuPone also previously confirmed that the series will feature several musical numbers from Agatha All Along songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez.

The upcoming project hails from head writer Jac Schaeffer, who is also serving as an executive producer along with Kevin Feige. The directing lineup will consist of Schaeffer, Gandja Monteiro, and Rachel Goldberg.
