Jordan Peele Reportedly Finds His Director for Psychological Thriller GOAT

Jordan Peele‘s Monkeypaw Productions has reportedly lined up a director for its psychological sports thriller GOAT.

Justin Tipping, director of the indie film Kicks, has allegedly been given the jersey for the film according to Jeff Sneider at The Insneider.

GOAT, which stands for Greatest of All Time (a term often used for sporting greats), is about a promising young football player who gets called up to train with the soon-to-retire star player. Given the psychological thriller tag, it’s a safe bet it’s not going to be a warm and fuzzy sports movie about legacy.

Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions bought a pitch for the psychological thriller from Limetown creators Zack Akers and Skip Bronkie last year. They were subsequently reported to be writing the script.

Tipping made his directorial debut in 2016 with the Crime Drama Kicks which sees a fifteen-year-old Brandon and his two best friends go on an ill-advised mission across the Bay Area to retrieve the stolen sneakers. After that, Tipping headed to television, directing episodes of Black Monday, The Chi, Dear White People, Flatbush Misdemeanors, and Peacock’s Joe vs. Carole.

There’s no release date for GOAT at this time.
